PS5 stock UK - live: Argos and Amazon make PlayStation available, BT and EE list ‘limited number of consoles’
The PS5 is coming back in stock at retailers across the UK.
While it often disappears almost more quickly than it arrives, it represents the first significant time in a while that the consoles are consistently becoming available to buy.
As such, customers are likely to need to jump straight to any retailers that say they have it in stock.
Here, we’ll be tracking all of those latest stock updates as they arrive, and the retailers that have the new console available.
No PS5 stock left anywhere
As the sun sets* on another day of PS5 excitement and disappointment, every major retailer is out of stock. The only place to get them is through resellers, which you probably shouldn’t do.
It’s a day that began in the early morning with Argos putting consoles at sale, seemingly at 3am, and which also saw a very quick restock at Amazon. Game even got in on the action, asking people to pay for expensive bundles with shirts and hats they probably didn’t want.
But it has ended in the same situation as every day: there are no PS5s left.

Argos offers update on consoles
Argos has sent a statement after the confusion and upset this morning.
“It’s clear customers are excited for the new PlayStation," a spokesperson said. "We released a small amount of additional stock and have seen huge numbers of customers trying to place their orders with us and we have now sold out, we’re sorry for any disappointment this may cause.”
If you didn’t get a confirmation email within two hours of buying, then your console probably hasn’t gone through. You shouldn’t have been charged and no money should have gone to Argos, but get in contact if you have.
Game offers ‘Easter egg hunt’ to get hold of PS5
Game, like everybody else, has no PS5s to sell you. But it is making four consoles available to people who take part in its “Easter egg hunt”, in partnership with PlayStation.
On select days and at select times for the next couple of weeks, the company will add the famous triangle, circle, cross and square somewhere on the Game website. They could be on any of its more than 1,000 pages, Game says.
Finding and clicking one will take you through to the entry page where you’l be able to enter your contact information for the chance to win a PS5 or one of “100 additional PlayStation prizes”.
It will appear between 3pm and 5pm UK time on 7, 8, 10, 15 and 17 December, Game said.
Anger at Argos decision to release new stock in the middle of the night
On Twitter, where “#PS5ukstock” continues to trend, the overwhelming sentiment seems to be frustration with Argos for dropping new consoles in the middle of the night.
Some were proud to announce that for whatever reason – shift work, or new parents – they had been up ready to get the consoles when they arrived at 3am. But everyone else seems more than annoyed.
What’s more, Argos had told customers that they would be informed when the consoles were coming, and didn’t, and there’s no reason to think that won’t happen in the future. As such, other consoles might arrive at similarly unsociable hours, and with little communication from retailers there is no way of knowing when that might happen, and therefore when you should be avoiding sleep…
All retailers still out of stock
Despite the excitement today – and the brief window this morning where Argos and Amazon had stock – every retailer is now out. That includes international ones, such as Amazon in Spain or Italy, which have become the focus of people aiming to find a console wherever they can.
They are available on eBay and reselling platform StockX. Fans have been discouraged from buying those: not only are they being sold at inflated prices, buying them helps encourage the bots and resellers that are contributing to the limited supply in the first place.
BT and EE offering consoles
Part of today’s excitement appears to have been sparked by the announcement that BT and EE would be offering consoles to their customers.
Here’s what they said yesterday evening about all that:
“BT today announced that existing BT and EE customers will once again have the opportunity to order a PS5 online via MyBT and EE’s Add to Plan service on 3rd December,” it wrote in an announcement.
"PlayStation 5 is only available from BT and EE to existing customers who order online.
“BT broadband customers wanting to order a PS5, will need to use their online MyBT account access. Meanwhile, existing EE pay monthly mobile handset customers will also be able to order a console online and add the cost to their price plan, split over 11 interest-free instalments with their online Add to Plan service.”
All the retailers you might find a PS5
Today is looking similar to every other day spent hunting PS5s: they’ll come into stock unpredictably, without any warnings, and likely in very low numbers.
As such, it’s always worth keeping an eye on various retailers. You can find links to all the major ones likely to restock here.
PlayStation boss had said ‘everything is sold’
Those remarks from Sony followed a statement from Jim Ryan, PlayStation’s CEO, in which he indicated that all of the consoles were gone but that it was working hard to produce more.
“Everything is sold. Absolutely everything is sold,” Mr Ryan told Russian news agency TASS.
"I’ve spent much of the last year trying to be sure that we can generate enough demand for the product. And now in terms of my executive bandwidth I’m spending a lot more time on trying to increase supply to meet that demand."
Latest official update suggested more consoles are coming
Last week, Sony gave what amounted to its first significant update since release. It promised more consoles were coming – but only vaguely, without any specifics of how or when they might arrive.
“We want to thank gamers everywhere for making the PS5 launch our biggest console launch ever,” PlayStation said in a tweet. “Demand for PS5 is unprecedented, so we wanted to confirm that more PS5 inventory will be coming to retailers before the end of the year - please stay in touch with your local retailers.”
Argos stock arrives – and disappears
Argos got some stock of PS5s this morning. While that meant that some people received them as early as today, others found themselves overjoyed to have their order confirmed – and then saddened to get a cancellation notice almost straight away.
