From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Sony is to let members of its PlayStation Plus premium service receive a free game of their choice every month.
The company has long given PlayStation owners a free game as part of the paid-for service, with a similar promotion also being run by Microsoft for the Xbox. But now Sony will give players the option to “Vote to Play”, choosing from a list of titles to receive for free.
The games that aren’t chosen will be sold at a discount, the company said. “Several” games will be part of the shortlist, and new games will continue to be offered every month.
“We’ll have more details for you soon on when voting begins, what titles will be up for voting, and how you can cast your vote,” Sony said in a statement.
PlayStation Plus costs £5.49 per month in the UK and is required to use most of the online functions of the console. As well as the free games, it is required for playing games online and gives extra functionality like automated updates, privileged access to demos and betas, and discounts in the store.
The games are offered through the Instant Game Collection, to which new titles are added and old ones are taken away each month.
