From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The Witcher 2 maintains its status as PC gaming's most widely appealing newcomer, according to download charts for the week ending May 23, deposed only by indie hits Terraria (on Steam) and Space Pirates & Zombies (on Impulse), and its $5 predecessor (Good Old Games).

Terraria, often referred to as a '2D Minecraft', allows players to build their own forts, craft equipment, and harvest resources from the landscape.

The twist is a combat element that's reminiscent of the older Metroid, Castlevania, or Wonderboy games - complete with boss battles - while maintaining multiplayer support for up to eight.

In Space Pirates and Zombies, budding buccaneers are tasked with hiring crew, harvesting valuable resources, and fending off hordes of assailants.

Simple, accessible, and action-oriented, SPAZ offers a more direct entry point to the genre than some of its contemporaries.

For that, it has been rewarded with top spot on Impulse, while one of its forebears ( Space Rangers 2) is not too far behind.
