Nike Air MAG 2016 raffle and release date: How to buy the self-lacing shoes from Back to the Future
It'll cost $10 to enter the raffle – but it all goes to a good cause, and that small amount of money might be enough to get you what might be the most desired shoes of all time
Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference. If you’ve ever dreamed of owning Marty McFly’s self-lacing sneakers from Back to the Future Part II, your wishes could become a reality.
Nike has unveiled the 2016 iteration of the Air MAG — and you can enter via a raffle, provided you’re in the US or Canada.
Entries cost $10 per ticket and all donations go towards a good cause.
“100% of the proceeds will go to the Michael J. Fox Foundation to help find a cure for Parkinson’s disease,” the website states.
With fewer than 100 pairs available in sizes 7, 9, 11 and 13 - it’s suggested you size up, due to the “adaptive lacing technology” - it’s highly unlikely you’ll manage to win a pair. There are 11 of the size 7s, 22 of the size 9s, 33 of the size 11s and 18 of the size 13s, just 84 in total.
If you’d like to be in with a shot, this is how you enter:
Visit the Nike+ login/register page and either sign in or create an account.
Once you’ve logged in, enter your information and choose your size (in US men’s sizing) and enter your billing information. Choose how many tickets you wish to purchase and hit donate.
There’s no limit to how many times you can enter
A one-time fee of $1 will also be added to your donation
You can also enter without donating money to charity, if you wish, by printing the official entry form and sending it to MAG Entry, PO Box 17584, Tucson, AZ 85731-7584. You’ll receive entries equal to the average number of entries received by those who make donations for the shoe size drawing specified.
Entrants have until October 11 and winners will be contacted on October 17.
