2010 will be the first year in which Apple will not be present at the prestigious Macworld Expo. However, Apple's newest creation - the iPad - will be a headlining product at the event.

Despite Apple's departure from the long list of exhibitors at the 2010 event, Macworld will be holding a Special iPad Event on Saturday, February 13.

The special iPad event was announced by Macworld owners IDG World Expo on January 27 - right after the tablet was officially announced by Apple.

Jason Snell, Macworld vice president and editorial director, will lead the special iPad event, providing information about the tablet's features, functionality and future - from its iPhone OS software right down to its inner components.

"Apple's new iPad represents another watershed event for the tech marketplace and Macworld 2010 will be the first and best place where end users can learn how the product works and whether it's a buy now or wait decision," said Paul Kent, vice president and general manager for Macworld 2010. "Our special event will help demystify the just-announced iPad and give users an in-depth look into the future of this product and what it might mean to them on a personal and practical level."

The iPad presentation is just one of the high-profile events scheduled to take place during the Mac conference. Influential speakers attending the 2010 Macworld Expo include filmmaker Kevin Smith; New York Times columnist David Pogue; this WEEK in TECH's Leo Laporte; Alltop.com co-founder Guy Kawasaki; DEMO executive producer Matt Marshall; dance music producer BT; multimedia expert David Biedny; and "Daring Fireball" publisher John Gruber.

Macworld Expo is a hotspot for dedicated Mac products and services and is the largest annual Apple Macintosh event in the world. Hundreds of companies offering dedicated Mac products and services will be at the event to share their expert advice and to show off their latest Mac-related technologies.

The five-day Macworld Conference and Expo will take place from February 9 to 13 at the Moscone Convention Center in San Francisco, USA.
