From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. Apple has revealed its cheapest iPhone ever – as well as confirming just how much it will cost.

The company’s iPhone SE takes the 5s’s place at the bottom of Apple’s line-up in price, and becomes the most affordable iPhone that the company has ever offered.

In the UK, the new, small phone will start at £359 for the 16GB model, in each of the five colours. The 64GB version will be available for £439.

Those prices are for the unlocked version of the phone, which can be used with any network.

Phone networks haven’t yet announced pricing for the new phone in the UK. But EE said soon after the launch that it would be offering the phone and that customers can get in touch now to find out more information about it.

In the US, the phone starts at $399 or from $13.30 if it is bought through a network.

In most countries, orders will open on 24 March and the phones will go on sale on 31 March.

It will come in silver, space grey, gold and rose gold. Those latter two colours are available in the smaller size for the first time, being introduced with the iPhone 6 and 6s respectively.
