The long-rumoured tablet – which is thought to have a bigger screen and a stylus for drawing on it – will finally be unveiled at Apple’s September 9 iPhone event, reports 9to5mac. It may also be joined by an iPad Mini 4.
The tablets will be made available for pre-order in October before being released in November, according to the report. As such, it may be that Apple instead opts to leave the release for a devoted event next month – when it usually reveals the updates to its iPad line.
If the iPad Pro and Mini are part of the event, they will join what looks to be a busy line-up. As well as the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus – which will be the biggest announcement – the company has also been rumoured to be launching an overhauled Apple TV and new straps for the Apple Watch.
Rumours have swirled for years that Apple has been working on iPad Pro, which has been said to be the size of a laptop screen and focused on business users. It would have extra inputs to allow it to use accessories like a proper computer, and increased processing power so that it can be used for advanced tasks like video editing, according to previous leaks.
But it appears that the company is now very close to releasing the tablet. The company was said in March to have had its plans delayed and to be looking towards a late-2015 release date.
Apple has recently announced a number of tie-ups with big business computing firms, indicating that it may be about to push into that market.
The only barrier to Apple releasing the tablet is whether it would be able to get enough components as the year comes to an end, according to reports.
The new tablet will actually be called the iPad Pro, according to the report, and that is not just a codename.
