From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. The launch date for the iPhone 6 in the UK and the rest of the world looks more and more certain to be 9 September, after a French website that correctly leaked the 5s posted photos of promotional art bearing it.

Editor of nowhereelse.fr Steve Hemmerstoffer uploaded the image on Monday, which shows the date on the display of the iPhone 6 blueprint along with other (not particularly telling) features like the volume buttons and Lightning connector.

'Tuesday September 9' tallies with many reports that this is the date Apple has earmarked for a major product launch, when it is expected to unveil 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch iPhones.

Hemmerstoffer claims "most trusted and loyal Chinese sources," passed on the images, the very same who provided similar (and ultimately correct) ones "just hours before the launch conference of the iPhone 5s".

Earlier in the week, what has been claimed is the most official image of the iPhone 6 yet was 'accidentally' leaked by China Telecom on the Chinese version of Twitter, Weibo.

The image purports to be from Apple's marketing material for the new product, showing three of the phones lined up, one silver, one black and one champagne colour, under the words: "iPhone 6. Even Better."

The new device is expected to:

- Use crack-proof sapphire for its display

- Run on iOS 8

- Have an aluminium chassis with curved edges

- See an improved 13 megapixel camera

- Be much slimmer

- Have no drastic improvement in battery life
