Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Forza 4 already has the Top Gear Track (Dunsfold Aerodrome) and an interactive car gallery with audio commentary from presenter Jeremy Clarkson.
The Limited Collector's Edition will bundle in a download code for five 2011 supercars in a VIP Pack and a further five as a "Launch Bonus" for those that order early.
Contained within the VIP Pack are the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport, Ferrari 458 Challenge, Lamborghini Gallardo LP570-4 Superleggera, Noble M600, and Ruf Automobile's Rt 12 R (a souped-up custom Porsche 997).
The Launch Bonus Pack comprises a classic Ford Mustang, the 1997 Lexus SC300's major revision, and 2011 editions of the Koenigsegg Agera, the Ruf RGT-8 (based on the Porsche 996), and the all-electric Tesla Roadster Sport.
There'll also be custom paintjobs for the BMW M6, M3 E92, Z4 M Coupe, M1 and M5, with the M6 livery decided by a community competition on the Forza website.
Forza Motorsport 4 is heading for an October 11 launch on Xbox 360.
That sets it between F1 2011 (360 PC PS3) on September 20 and Trackmania 2: Canyon (PC, also September), and Need for Speed: The Run which is currently scheduled for November 15.
