A new prototype from telecommunications company, Orange, has set the stage for Glastonbury Festival goers wanting to keep their mobile phone charged while letting their feet do the dancing.
Orange teamed up with renewable energy experts GotWind to design the latest high-tech music festival fashion accessory (dubbed Orange Power Wellies).
"Twelve hours of stomping through the Glastonbury Festival in your Orange Power Wellies will give you enough power to charge a mobile phone for one hour" said Orange in a June 7 press release. "To increase the length of time you can charge your phone for, simply hot step it to the dance tent because the hotter your feet get, the more energy you produce."
After getting hot, sweaty and muddy in your new boots, you can charge your phone by plugging it into their built-in power output.
Mobile companies are racing to find innovative charging solutions for eco-conscious consumers. On June 3 Nokia unveiled a Bicycle Charger Kit that enables consumers to charge their mobile phone whilst riding a bike and both Sharp and Samsung have solar powered mobile phones available for purchase.
