From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Apple has launched Fitness+, an online workout service that is built around its Apple Watch.

The company had revealed the platform during an event earlier this year, but it will now be available from next week.

It will include a range of different workouts – 10 in all, from high intensity interval training to “mindful cooldown” – all of which can be streamed onto iPhones or Apple TVs.

Fitness+ will be available from Monday, 14 December, the company said. It costs £9.99 per month or £79.99 per year, and can be bundled with the company’s Apple One premier plan as well as shared between different people who have a family membership.

It will initially be available in Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, the UK and the US. It also needs an Apple Watch Series 3 or later, as well as an iPhone, iPad or Apple TV.

“Being more active is one of the most important things we can do for our health, but we know choosing to work out can often be a challenge whether you’re very active or just getting started,” said Jay Blahnik, Apple’s senior director of Fitness Technologies.

“We’re excited for Apple Fitness+ to bring together the metrics from Apple Watch, great music, and a diverse and inspiring trainer team — in a uniquely simple, easy-to-access way across Apple devices — to encourage our users to get fit and stay healthy.”
