Nintendo 3DS owners who bought, or will buy, the handheld prior to its August 12 price cut will be rewarded with 20 free NES and GBA games along with Ambassador status.
To register for the program, 3DS owners must use a WiFi connection to visit the handheld's Nintendo eShop before August 12 (August 11 in Japan).
Then they can look forward to ten free NES games being made available starting September 1, including
Super Mario Bros, the very first Legend of Zelda, and Donkey Kong Jr.
Following that are ten from the Game Boy Advance line-up by the year's end; Yoshi's Island, Mario vs Donkey Kong, Mario Kart: Super Circuit, Metroid Fusion, and WarioWare, Inc.: Mega Party Games are counted among them.
While the NES games should also end up on the eShop in due course, those GBA titles are currently being touted by Nintendo as exclusive gifts. It's not unreasonable to expect a full 3DS sequel for each, and a new Mario Kart is already planned for December.
Key to the reward program is a 3DS price cut of up to 40 percent, starting on August 12 (August 11 in Japan), and the PlayStation Vita launch date announcement on August 16.
