The British Lions prop Peter Wright will miss Scotland's home international against Western Samoa on 18 November after being suspended for six weeks at a Scottish disciplinary hearing. The ban follows his sending- off for verbally abusing the referee Ken McCartney during a league match at Gala last month.

Cardiff have asked Llanelli, to pay compensation to Mike Hall, after a clash with the lock Tony Copsey in September that left their player with a fractured cheekbone.

Hall refused to take Copsey to court, but is concerned over his loss of earnings and Cardiff are now acting on his behalf for what is the first request of this type in Welsh rugby.
