An NBA player has issued an apology on Twitter after he posted a selfie at the site of the Holocaust Memorial in Berlin with the caption “You know I had to do it one time lol #Holocaust”.

Danny Green of the San Antonio Spurs posted the picture along with the extremely inappropriate caption on Wednesday. The Spurs are currently in Berlin to play an exhibition game against Alba Berlin, which they went on to 94-93.

Shooting guard Green took some time out of the trip to explore what Berlin has to offer, which included visiting the Holocaust Memorial.

However, Green chose to post a picture that could be described at best at inappropriate, and at worst offensive to the memory of those who died during the Second World War in Nazi concentration camps.

Despite the nail-biting end to the match as James McLean scored on the buzzer, Green’s post overshadowed the trip. Green himself scored nine points in the exhibition match, but was unable to prevent the NBA side slipping to defeat.
