From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Having already been treated to a night of thrilling fights, submissions, and knockouts, the fans inside the Rodgers Centre in Vancouver may have thought they'd seen it all -- but then they saw Demian Maia dominate and finish Carlos Condit in double quick time.
Round one opened with Maia looking for an early takedown. Maia shot in almost straight away and after a brief few seconds of resistance, Condit was down and Maia worked to his back.
After getting a body triangle locked, Maia slipped his forearm under the chin of Condit to lock up the rear-naked choke. A powerless Condit could do nothing but tap; Maia won in just one minute and 52 seconds.
Prior to the main event, Paige VanZant stole the 'Knockout Of The Night' honours with a beautiful flying switch kick in the second round of her fight with Bec Rawlings.
VanZant returned to the Octagon for the first time in eight months following a successful run on the American TV show 'Dancing With The Stars'. Despite her time away, VanZant showed few signs of ring rust and levelled Rawlings with a beautiful head kick that no doubt, will be played time and time again for years to come.
Elsewhere, in the co-main event of the evening, Anthony Pettis made a successful debut in the featherweight division against Charles Oliviera, while Jim Miller won a controversial split decision over Joe Lauzon in the main card opener.
