It’s not a bad time to be Conor McGregor. The UFC featherweight champion has the chance to add the lightweight crown to his collection when he faces Rafael dos Anjos at UFC 197 in March, is bigger than at any other point in his UFC career due to the extra weight he can put on and is now showing off his £280,000 Lamborhini – complete with flame-spitting exhaust.
For any car enthusiast, the sound of the £280,000 Lamborghini Aventador’s V12 engine roaring into life is enough to make their day, and even McGregor admitted his excitement at it as he explained why he posts moments from his extravagant lifestyle on his Instagram account.
“I'm not trying to rub it in posting these,” McGregor said. “We don't even have these at home. I am blessed.
“I celebrate and reward each of these good moments with more hard work and effort. And through this I receive more good moments.
“Nice things in life are motivating. They are designed to push you further. Embrace them. Use them as motivation and you will have them.”
True to his word, McGregor is hard at work in the gym preparing for his bout with Dos Anjos which could see the Irish fighter walk out of the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas with both the featherweight and lightweight title. The Dubliner has already announced his intention to defend both belts should he win, switching from 145lbs to 155lbs where necessary.
Both McGregor and Dos Anjos will appear at the official UFC 197 press conference on Thursday at the MGM Grand, where the two are expected to renew their war of words which started last week in controversial circumstances.
McGregor threatened to “behead” Dos Anjos when they meet in the Octagon, with Dos Anjos ignoring the jibe and claiming that his attempt to get the Brazilian fans on his side failed because “Brazil hates him”.
