Novak Djokovic, Venus Williams and Kyle Edmund headline the opening day of Wimbledon 2019.

2018 men's champion Djokovic begins his defence against unseeded Philipp Kohlschreiber before women's number two seed Naomi Osaka takes on Yuila Putintseva and Kyle Edmund wraps up the first day on Centre Court against Jaume Munar.

Last year's men's finalist Kevin Anderson begins his campaign on Monday, as does Stan Warwrinka, Alexander Zverev, Simona Halep and Venus Williams, who plays 15-year-old Cori Gauff.

Putintseva 6-6 Osaka* (3-3)

Still nothing to choose between these two, as Putintseva plays a beautiful backhand drop shot to extinguish the mini-break.

PUTINTSEVA WINS THE FIRST SET! Putintseva 7-6(4) Osaka

Well, could we have a big shock on the first day at Wimbledon?!

RESULT

Teenager Felix Auger-Aliassime won his first grand slam match against Vasek Pospisil.

In an all-Canadian affair on Canada Day, the 18-year-old - seeded 19th after a remarkable rise up the rankings in the last year - dropped the first set.

But Auger-Aliassime gradually began to showcase the shot-making which has seen earmarked as a major star of the future and took the match 5-7 6-2 6-4 6-3.

POTENTIAL SHOCK ALERT!

We may have THREE shocks on the three main courts here...

Naomi Osaka is a set down on Centre, while on Court No. 1, Alexander Zverev is down a break in the third set, after the German and opponent Jiri Vesely shared the first two sets.

And on court no.2, seventh seed Stefanos Tsitsipas is down two sets to one against Italian Thomas Fabbiano!

Day 1 drama at Wimbledon!
