Novak Djokovic, Venus Williams and Kyle Edmund headline the opening day of Wimbledon 2019.

2018 men's champion Djokovic begins his defence against unseeded Philipp Kohlschreiber before women's number two seed Naomi Osaka takes on Yuila Putintseva and Kyle Edmund wraps up the first day on Centre Court against Jaume Munar.

Last year's men's finalist Kevin Anderson begins his campaign on Monday, as does Stan Warwrinka, Alexander Zverev, Simona Halep and Venus Williams, who plays 15-year-old Cori Gauff.

*Novak Djokovic 6-3 3-4 Philipp Kohlschreiber

Arguably the point of the match to open up the game - both players twisting side to side before Djokovic slices into the net.

At 30-15, Philipp absolutely rips the backhand continuously and Djokovic eventually cracks, going long.

Djokovic's return goes long on game point, and Philipp holds.

I have to say, the pace, power and intensity of the rallies early on is stunning - the crowd are absolutely gripped here.

Djokovic holds comfortably to 15, as Philipp struggles to play himself into the rallies.

Well, he's going to have to get himself of trouble again here is Kohlschreiber...

An inaccurate return from Philipp brings up three set points, and the German nets on the return to hand Djokovic a 2-set lead.

Long way back for Kohlschreiber now...
