Wimbledon: Emma Raducanu on why she 'couldn't say no' to playing mixed doubles with Andy Murray

Emma Raducanu returns to action on Centre Court today at Wimbledon when she faces the world No 9 Maria Sakkari. Raducanu has produced some of her best tennis for some time and is looking to reach the fourth round of Wimbledon for the second time in her career.

Earlier, Carlos Alcaraz kept his Wimbledon defence alive after digging deep and coming from behind to beat Frances Tiafoe in a five-set thriller on Centre Court. Alcaraz was two sets to one down against an inspired Tiafoe, but the Spaniard improved his five-set record to played 12, won 13 as he battled back to claim victory in almost four hours in his first major test of the tournament.

Meanwhile, Sonay Kartal’s Wimbledon run is over after losing the final eight games in a row in a 6-4 6-0 defeat to the world number two Coco Gauff.

Wimbledon 2024: Emma Raducanu vs Maria Sakkari

Emma Raducanu will get her wish of playing under the roof of Centre Court, with the rain pounding down outside.

“I prefer having the roof on probably because I think the sound is just amplified,” she said after her win against Elise Mertens in the second round.

“It’s like a concert hall. It’s really nice to play in, an amazing environment. It’s a lot louder. The ball even sounds different when you hit it.”

And here come the players!

She faces world number 2 Coco Gauff, with the American in sensational form so far this tournament. Gauff has taken the early break and leads 3-1.
