From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

Welcome to The Independent's live coverage of Wimbledon as Andy Murray gets his campaign underway with an intriguing clash with fellow Brit Liam Broady - ranked 235th in the world.

The Scot is under no illusions about the threat posed by Broady - ranked 235th in the world - as the eyes of the nation turn on Centre Court this afternoon.

"It's an opportunity for him to play on one of the biggest courts in the world with a huge audience and try to cause an upset," said Murray, famously a Wimbledon champion in 2013.

Taking part in his first Grand Slam since reuniting with coach Ivan Lendl, Murray will be under pressure to dispatch Broady swiftly ahead of a grueling summer schedule.
