From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Tsitsipas will now play the winner between Australian John Millman and American John Isner. Millman beat Frenchman Adrian Mannarino 4-6 6-4 7-6 (2), while Isner overcame Poland’s Hubert Hurkacz 7-5 6-4.
Belgian seventh seed David Goffin was the other player through to the last 16 on Sunday, beating Croatia’s Borna Coric 7-6 (6) 6-4.
In other first round matches, Argentinian ninth seed Diego Schwartzman progressed by beating Denmark’s Casper Ruud 7-6 (2) 6-3, while Britain’s Dan Evans upset Russian 10th seed Andrey Rublev 7-5 3-6 6-2.

Elsewhere, Andy Murray will take on world No7 Alexander Zverev after the Scot beat Francis Tiafoe despite nine months away from competitive tennis.
The New York tournament, which would normally be held in Cincinnati, is serving as a warm-up event for players ahead of the US Open, which begins on 31 August.
