Lucie Safarova crushed the former world No 1 Jelena Jankovic 6-1, 6-1 today as the Czech Republic retained their Fed Cup title by beating Serbia 3-1 in Prague.

The Czechs, 2-0 up overnight after Safarova's win over Ana Ivanovic and Petra Kvitova's over Jankovic, were held up when Ivanovic took the first reverse singles, beating Kvitova 6-3, 7-5, but Safarova swept her opponent off the court to repeat the triumph of 12 months ago, over Russia.
