Rafael Nadal meets Stefanos Tsitsipas in a crucial round-robin match at the ATP Finals at the O2 Arena in London today.
French Open champion Nadal enters the match on the back of a defeat, having fallen to US Open winner Dominic Thiem 7-6(7) 7-6(4) in a thriller on Tuesday after opening his account with a 6-3 6-4 win over Andrey Rublev.
Last year’s ATP Finals champion Tsitsipas, meanwhile, also lost to Thiem – coming up short 6-7(5) 6-4 3-6 in his opener – before similarly beating Rublev. The Greek overcame the Russian with more trouble than Nadal had, however, winning 6-1 4-6 7-6(8).
With Thiem having already secured safe passage through to the semi-finals, this is a must-win match for both players, with the victor joining the Austrian in the final four.
