He can still win here, says Felgate
Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.David Felgate, Tim Henman's former coach, yesterday backed the British No 1 to win Wimbledon in the future.
"Of course he can win it," Felgate said after watching Henman's defeat to Lleyton Hewitt. "Sampras says he can win it, Philippoussis says he can win it, Federer says he can win it, so he must have a chance."
Felgate, who coached Henman for most of his career until they parted company last year, added: "He is only 27, he's fit, of course he could – and he could also win the US Open. He has plenty of time to do it.
"Tim played a very good game, but Hewitt was superb. You could point to single shots and say he should have done this or that, made this volley or that shot. but tennis isn't like that. He was beaten by a better player on a day when Hewitt showed why he is the No 1 player in the world."
