The pre-Wimbledon women's tournament at Eastbourne will lose Volkswagen as its sponsor after this year's event. The company, who took over from Pilkington Glass, has decided not to take up its option for a third year. The Lawn Tennis Association, while seeking a new sponsor, is also involved with Eastbourne Borough Council in a pounds 2.5m development at Devonshire Park to replace the stand which has been destroyed by fire.
