Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Britain's Jamie Delgado reached the semi-final of the LTA men's satellite at Bramhall, Cheshire with a 4-6, 7-6, 7-6 victory over Ivo Heuberger, of Switzerland, in a match lasting two hours 48 minutes. Delgado, the 18-year-old from Warwickshire, next takes on Sander Groen, of the Netherlands, who beat the No 6 seed, Nick Gould of Avon, 6-7, 6-2, 7-6. Colin Beecher, of Kent, lost out to Scott Humphries, of the United States, who will face Sweden's Johan Alven in the other semi-final.

Sam Smith, of Essex, overcame a spirited fightback by Shirli-Ann Siddall to reach the final of the LTA satellite event in Sunderland yesterday. Siddall, the 21-year-old from Dorset, lost the first set 6-3 and only started to play from 5-0 down in the second, mixing up her game to break Smith and hold her own serve to love. But she failed to build on her mini- recovery and Smith, the No 1 seed, duly took the match 6-3, 6-2 to progress to the final, where she will meet the No 2 seed Raluca Sandu of Romania.
