Arsenal v Southampton

Apart from the continuing absence of England captain Platt following a knee operation, Arsenal have no injury worries. Saints full-back Neilson faces a late test on a groin injury while winger Heaney is free of suspension. Northern Ireland midfielder Magilton is expected to be fit after a "dead" leg. Charlton is called up as a precaution.

Aston Villa v Nottm For

Milosevic has returned from international duty with Yugoslavia but Villa manager Little has to decide whether to keep faith with Johnson who scored in the midweek Cup defeat of Peterborough. Forest captain Pearce and Italian international Silenzi have recovered from injury. Campbell (back) is still absent.

Blackburn v Coventry

Shearer looks for his 100th goal for Blackburn and joins Sutton and Newell in the three-pronged attack which secured Coca-Cola Cup victory at Swindon. Filan returns in goal for Coventry in place of Gould.

Liverpool v Bolton

Barnes returns for Liverpool if he shrugs off a knee injury. pounds 4.5m midfielder McAteer stands by. Bolton are still without injured defenders Taggart and Stubbs.

Man City v Middlesbrough

Creaney marked his debut for City with a goal at Newcastle last week. After being cup-tied, he is expected to take over from Quinn, with Lomas continuing in midfield. Middlesbrough are lifted by central defender Pearson's return after a calf strain and Hignett is restored to midfield.

Sheffield Wed v Man Utd

After handing in a formal transfer request and rejecting an pounds 800,000 move to Celtic, Waddle will be hoping to play for Wednesday. Schmeichel, Bruce, Butt and Scholes will return for Pilkington, McGibbon, McClair and Neville in several changes to United's line-up. Parker continues to deputise for Neville.

West Ham v Everton

West Ham have re-signed Hughes on loan from Strasbourg and he could be in contention. Hutchison may return after missing the midweek victory at Bristol Rovers while defenders Whitbread and Rowland are added to the squad. Samways hopes to shake off a calf strain for Everton in an otherwise unchanged side.

Wimbledon v Leeds

Wimbledon may employ Jones as sweeper because of injury to Thorn. Fitzgerald (knee) is doubtful. Norwegian international Leonhardsen may miss his first game of the season; Fear is on standby. Leeds's Dorigo (thigh) is again ruled out. Worthington may be replaced by Beesley.

Newcastle v Chelsea

Fox, Sellars and Elliott step down for Beardsley, Clark and Beresford, who are set to return for Newcastle. Peacock and Spencer are fighting to shrug off thigh injuries for Chelsea. Burley will again deputise for Peacock if ruled out; Furlong is Spencer's likely replacement.
