The KP National Championships are doubling as the British trials for the European Championships and the English Commonwealth Games trials, guaranteeing a high-class entry headed by Britain's three world champions, Linford Christie, Colin Jackson and Sally Gunnell. The event sees the return of Roger Black, the former European and Commonwealth 400m champion. Tomorrow is largely given over to heats, but there are five finals, the men's 100m and 10,000m and the women's 100m, 100m hurdles and 3000m.

How to get there: Don Valley Stadium, Worksop Road, Sheffield. Signposted between city centre and Junction 34 of M1. Admission: Tomorrow pounds 6 adults, pounds 3 children under-16 and OAPs. Sunday pounds 3- pounds 15, pounds 3- pounds 5. Starts 11.30am tomorrow and 12.30am on Sunday. Credit card bookings can be made by telephone on two special lines on 0742-565656 or 0742- 789199.
