Sir: The major criteria for selection should be: demonstration of on-going success as a player and manager, and managerial experience overseas. Terry Venables and John Toshack spring to mind, although there are probably a few well-qualified European managers who should be considered, for example Johan Cruyff.

Come on England, consider world-wide talent and don't be so inward-looking]
