Sports betting: Take United to dismantle Porto
Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Alex Ferguson's men, although admittedly extremely wasteful after being gifted two early own goals by Saturday's 3-1 Old Trafford victims, Coventry City, are in fine form at present, but Porto were held to a 2-2 draw at Estrela Da Amadora on Friday and lost 2-1 at home to Salgueiros last week.
Porto boast several Portugese international among their squad but United, with Beckham, Cantona, Giggs, Keane and Schmeichel, are not exactly short of world class players themselves and are fancied to establish a first leg lead.
Newcastle, however, could easily go under to Monaco - 11-5 with William Hill - in their Uefa Cup quarter-final first leg at St James's Park tomorrow.
Monaco are leading the French premier league but Newcastle - sans Shearer - put in a dismal display in a 1-0 defeat to struggling Southampton at home on Saturday.
Newcastle's defence, despite the recent switch of managers, remains anything but an effective unit and the French could ruthlessly expose their deficiencies.
But for gifting United those early goals, Coventry City - 13-8 with Hills - might have escaped Old Trafford with a point.
In Darren Huckerby, Coventry clearly have a striker capable of going though any Premiership defence.
Wimbledon looked as if the wheels had fallen off their wagon when, amazingly, losing 3-1 at home to Leicester on Saturday, their first home defeat since the start of the season.
Coventry can catch them on the rebound at Highfield Road this evening and secure all three points.
