Steffi Graf, the Wimbledon champion, heads an impressive field for the Brighton International Championships from 17-22 October. Also taking part are the defending champion, Jana Novotna, of the Czech Republic, Bulgaria's Maggie Maleeva, the United States No 1, Lindsay Davenport, and Anke Huber, of Germany.
Andre Agassi, the world No 1 player, yesterday withdrew from the Lyon Open, which starts on 16 October. The Australian Open champion has not recovered from a chest muscle injury he sustained during the United States- Sweden Davis Cup semi-final two weeks ago in Las Vegas.
