Yzaga ran down every ball and returned Courier's serve with precision to win their quarter-final, 6-4, 2-6, 6-4 in two hours and 19 minutes. 'Jim didn't play well in the first set and that gave me confidence. I started putting more pressure on him, playing the ball around, changing the pace and coming into the net,' he said

JEREMY BATES, the British No 1, reached the final of the Wash and Go Irish Open Championships in Dublin yesterday with a 6-2, 6-1 victory over the Romanian, Alex Radelescu. Bates took less than an hour to wrap up the match and end the run of the Romanian who had beaten the American, Todd Nelson, and Britain's Chris Wilkinson.
