In the same tournament Stefan Edberg was defeated in straight sets in front of his home fans by Russia's Yevgeny Kafelnikov.
Gary Henderson, of Ilkley, yesterday achieved his first Masters victory by beating Wokingham's Paul Hand 6- 7, 6-3, 6-4 to land the LTA Autumn Satellite title in Basingstoke.
