Carlisle yesterday completed the signing of Luke Weaver, following a loan spell, from Sunderland. The 20-year-old goalkeeper joins the Cumbrians on a free transfer with Sunderland receiving 50 per cent of any future transfer fees.

The Former Bulgarian Football Union chief Hristo Danov, who previously headed the country's football governing body, has been detained on fraud charges, a police spokesman said yesterday. The former banker is being investigated for allegedly forging documents through which some $420,000 (pounds 701,400) was illegally diverted.
