Osvaldo Ardiles, the former Argentinian World Cup player, has signed a two-year contract as manager of Croatia Zagreb. Ardiles succeeds Ilija Loncarevic, who replaced Velimir Zajec in midseason.

The Scottish League Management Committee have agreed to allow First Division Clydebank to ground-share with the East of Scotland club, Gala next season. However, Gala's ground must first receive a safety certificate from the local authority and League officials will inspect the ground and decide that it is fit for both League and League Cup ties.

Bristol City are to advertise for a new first team manager to work alongside director of coaching, Benny Lennartsson, following relegation to the Second Division. The chairman Scott Davidson said: "The Board anticipate making an appointment before the players report back for pre-season training on 28 June."

Gheorghe Hagi, the Romanian midfielder, who had announced his retirement, said yesterday that he will continue as team captain to help the country qualify in the Euro 2000 championships. The 34-year-old who plays for Istanbul's Galatasaray was hailed as the key player in Romania's 2-0 victory over Hungary on Saturday.
