Steve Bucknall, the England international, has boosted his Continental career by transferring from the Italian Second Division club Fabriano to the First Division team Reggiana, based south-east of Milan just outside Parma.

Yorick Williams seems certain to lose his place in the England team for the European Championship games against Belarus and Israel later this month. His club, Derby Storm, have suspended him following his role in the abandonment of the game with Chester Jets last weekend.

Another England player, Ray Carter, has joined the Icelandis team KFI Keflavik after he was sacked by the Austrian club Oberwart following a dispute last month.

Anthony Mason, the Charlotte Hornets' all-arounder, will miss the entire NBA season with a ruptured biceps.

Jimmy Jackson, the best shooting guard remaining on the NBA's free agent market, has signed a three-year, $6m (pounds 3.7m) contract with the Portland Trail Blazers.

The Chicago Bulls have signed Hungary's Kornel David on a two-year contract and the player will be the first Hungarian in the NBA.
