Michael Johnson has asked the International Olympic Committee president, Juan Antonio Samaranch, for a meeting to discuss changes in the 1996 Olympic schedule that would allow him to run in both the 200 and 400 metres at Atlanta.

Roger Black has withdrawn from this Sunday's Bupa Games at Gateshead because of a knee injury. However, the 400m is likely to include David Grindley, who finished fifth in a meeting in Malmo last night.
