ENGLAND, winners of the world title on the last four occasions, suffered a surprise defeat in the semi-finals of the World Team Championship in Vancouver yesterday when they were beaten 2-1 in the semi-finals by New Zealand. Donna Newton, an Auckland warehouse manager who quit the circuit six years ago, beat the world number two No 2, Martine Le Moignan, in the deciding contest.
