WAYNE GARRATT, the Newcastle rider died in hospital yesterday afternoon after 15 days on a life support machine. The 23-year-old rider had been taken to hospital after crashing during his club's Second Division Cup semi-final against Peterborough on Sunday 13 September, suffering from a brain injury. He joined Newcastle on loan at the beginning of the season and helped them win the Second Division Gold Cup earlier this year.
