ENGLAND qualified for the second round of group matches in the Hong Kong International Sixes despite losing to the West Indies, captained by Viv Richards, in the preliminary stages. Their round-robin opponents today will be India and the hosts, Hong Kong, who have beaten both Australia and the present world champions, Pakistan. Today's other round-robin section consists of the West Indies, Pakistan and New Zealand. The group winners will meet in the final.

HONG KONG INTERNATIONAL SIXES Preliminary round robin: Group A: New Zealand (80 for 1) bt Zimbabwe (76 for 4); Zimbabwe (65 for 2) bt India (55 for 3); New Zealand (57 for 2) lost to India (58 for 0). New Zealand and India qualify for second round robin stage. Group B: Pakistan (77 for 3) bt Australia (59 for 5); Hong Kong (74 for 4) bt Australia (47 all out); Pakistan (88 for 1) lost to Hong Kong (89 for 2). Hong Kong and Pakistan qualify. Group C: England (103 for 2) bt Sri Lanka (87 for 4); West Indies (82 for 1) bt England (75 for 4); Sri Lanka (69 for 2) lost to West Indies (70 for 1). West Indies and England qualify.
