Sound of 'Test Match Special' secured

Test Match Special's immediate future was assured yesterday when BBC Radio signed a new four-year deal with the Test and County Cricket Board. The new deal gives BBC Radio exclusive rights to ball-by-ball commentary of all major cricket fixtures up until the end of the year 2000 season. Apart from Cornhill Test matches, there will also be ball-by-ball coverage of Texaco Trophy one-day internationals, and the finals of both the Benson and Hedges Cup and NatWest Trophy. The TCCB have also signed an exclusive commercial agreement with the Copyright Promotions Group to develop and market the TCCB brand.
