Snooker: O'Sullivan's confidence disappears

Ronnie O'Sullivan, already with two ranking titles to his name this season, does not think he can add a third in Aberdeen on Saturday night despite defeating Mark Fenton 5-1 yesterday at the International Open.

O'Sullivan described his victory as "diabolical", despite finding form again after his recent defeat in the Masters final by Steve Davis.

"Every time I got among the balls I didn't have a clue. At the moment I think I am useless as a player," he said. "I am just seeing gremlins all the time. I don't feel confident of making even a 30 break and the game is difficult for me right now."

Fenton, ranked No 195 in the world, took the opening frame but did not enjoy any further success. Despite making a top break of only 47, O'Sullivan reeled off five frames in a row to earn a meeting tomorrow with Stuart Pettman.

Paul Wykes became the first competitor to qualify for the last 16, defeating Bradley Jones 5-1.
