Kristian Ghedina joined Herbert Plank as Italy's most successful ever World Cup downhill skier yesterday after turning the tables on his French rival Luc Alphand. Ghedina, third behind Alphand in Friday's shortened downhill, clocked 2 min 0.28 sec at Val Gardena to beat the Frenchman into second place. Josef Strobl restored some Austrian pride after his countrymen were knocked out of the top five on Friday with third place in a time of 2:00.65. Meanwhile in Crans Montana, New Zealand's Claudia Riegler collected her second World Cup slalom win of the season.
