Pennekamp, the favourite, will face 14 rivals in tomorrow's Derby. Celtic Swing and the injured Sebastian were the only two defectors at the 48-hour declaration stage.
The going at Epsom was yesterday described as Good to Firm, and Good over the last five furlongs of the 12-furlong Derby course.
Yesterday's draw should have little effect in a what is a relatively small Derby field, but Pennekamp's connections will be content that their colt runs from stall five. A draw near the centre is best. The main fancies are drawn as follows: Spectrum, the second-favourite, is in four, Humbel six, Lammtarra seven, Riyadian eight, Vettori nine. Tamure is in stall 13, with Munwar in three, Presenting two, and Salmon Ladder one.
