SAILING

Steve Pettengill, of the United States, sailed into Charleston, South Carolina yesterday to take second place in the 27,000-mile BOC Challenge. Pettengill, sailing Hunter's Child, completed the voyage in 128 days, four hours, three minutes and nine seconds. The Frenchman, Christophe Auguin, won in 121 days, 17 hours, 11 minutes and 46 seconds.
