Jonny Wilkinson has left hospital after an operation on his shoulder and will begin his rehabilitation with a 10-day break.
The Newcastle and England fly-half damaged the right shoulder in the World Cup, and despite waiting over a month before resuming club duties, he aggravated the problem.
"The operation seems to have gone OK," Newcastle's director of rugby, Rob Andrew said. "He will begin rehabilitation as soon as he can. "We'll take it from there to see when he is able to start training again."
