Stade Francais prop David Attoub has been handed a 70-week ban for eye gouging by an independent judicial officer.

While the ban is lengthy (the second-most severe to have been handed out for a gouging offence in the professional era), it is proportional considering the dangerous nature of the offence and the need to stamp it out.

Attoub joins numerous others in the oval-ball game to find themselves serving an extra long spell in the sin bin. Here we take a look at those lengthy bans.
