From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. Scotland produced one of their most memorable Calcutta Cup displays to beat England 25-15 at Murrayfield on Saturday, outscoring the reigning champions three tries to one and ending their Grand Slam hopes in the process.

Having not won a match against England since 2008 - and not even scoring a try against the Auld Enemy here at Murrayfield since 2004 - Scotland shot out of the blocks and were three tries to the good before the first half was out.

Huw Jones, the Glasgow Warriors centre, took centre stage as he scored the opening try following a slice of good fortune, with Finn Russell's kick ricocheting off the feet of Jones and Jonatha Joseph before sitting up for the Scot to go over.

The home fans did not have to wait long for the second try either as a good break from Jones on the right led to space opening up on the left wing for Sean Maitland to go over in the corner with a clinical finish, and while Owen Farrell kept England in the game with two penalties, they were knocked off their feet when Jones broke through the middle of the defence to race through and hold off Anthony Watson and Mike Brown to score his second.

England needed to answer quickly after the break, and they did exactly that as Farrell went over when he spotted a big gap outside the defence for Danny Care to send him through, but Russell kicked a penalty to keep Scotland on the front foot and by the time Sam Underhill was sent to the sin-bin for a shoulder charge, it was all over for England.
