Rugby World Cup 2019 in numbers

With the third round of matches in the Rugby World Cup pool stage completed, who stood out among the rest to make their mark on Japan 2019?

There were big wins for South Africa and Australia, and even bigger ones for New Zealand, while Scotland and Ireland got back to winning ways to bring Pool A to life and set it right down to the wire.

With teams now locking their place down in the quarter-finals, the business end of the pool stage suddenly feels upon us, so much so that the slimmest of margins will decide who stays and who goes over the next week – a bonus point here, a chalked off try there.

Not everyone who deserved a place in the team made the cut, such has been the quality of performances across this round, with a particularly strong showing from a number of wingers as well as scrum-halves over the last week.

But in the end there are always 15 players who just do that little bit something special to make the cut.

Click through the gallery below to see who makes the cut.

The team of round four will be unveiled on Thursday, before the final pool stage edition is released following the culmination of the pool stage at the weekend.
