Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

A rematch of the Pool D decider from last year’s World Cup gives France a chance of revenge after their 9-24 defeat by Ireland.

It’s a big game for…

Jonathan Danty. Danty played an excellent game against Italy, but Ireland is a completely different kettle of fish. With competition from Robbie Henshaw, Danty will need to show off some more of the skill which allowed him to replace the forceful Wesley Fofana. The freshly capped centre will need to front up if he is to break past the new challenge.

Weird stat…

1111 – This is the number of points France have conceded against Ireland in their 106 year competitive history. This includes a 4-3 victory against an Ireland XV in January of 1946 and features 95 matches.

He became eligible for his adopted nation after the World Cup final and was immediately put to use in last week’s draw against Wales, ending as Man of the Match.
